Food deliveries to Mbunza and Mafwe
The first two Living Museums have received the long awaited emergency food supplies.
After a couple of problems with suppliers in Windhoek resulting in some delays in the delivery of goods we were able to transport the supplies to the Mbunza and Mafwe. The joy was huge in both Living Museums
Mbunza
For every actor of the Mbunza Living Museum we had ordered hampers with maize flour, sugar, cooking oil, rice, pasta, yeast and washing powder. Here about 15.000 N$ (780 Euro) were invested. From the remaining 4.000 N$ the Mbunza are able to buy Mahangu (traditional millet). Mahangu is a very sturdy, drought resistant millet, which is processed into a porridge. The cobs are often used to build the fence for the traditional homestead.

Mafwe
After handing over the supplies at the Mbunza Living Museum we went to Rundu for a bulk purchase of supplies for the Mafwe, which we delivered the next day. We bought maize flour, flour, rice, pasta, cooking oil, sugar, yeast, salt, washing powder, soups and tomato sauce for 17.000 N$ (895 Euro). The remaining 2000 N$ we handed over in cash, also used for buying Mahangu.
The Mafwe were also extremely thankful and they had prepared a little dance as a thank you:
