Premiere of the Film “Ju/'Hoansi – Guardians of Their Culture” in Tangermünde
On 4 September 2025, the documentary “Ju/'Hoansi – Guardians of Their Culture” by Franka Fischer and Henning Kopp celebrated its premiere – at a very special location: Tangermünde, the founding place of the LCFN.
The Salzkirche, where our association had already organized the “International Museum Day” twice before, was filled to capacity. Several newspaper articles and posters throughout the town had generated strong interest ahead of the event.

Franka and Henning, both students of Audiovisual Media at the University of Wuppertal and themselves members of the LCFN, produced the film as part of their Bachelor’s thesis. From the very beginning, the project was supported and accompanied by our association.
The documentary focuses on the lives and work of the people at the “Hunters Museum” in Tsumkwe. It vividly depicts everyday life in the museum village, the balancing act between preserving traditions and cultural knowledge on the one hand, and the younger Ju/'Hoansi generation’s desire to leave this way of life behind on the other.

With great sensitivity, the two filmmakers portray the contrast between poverty and the hardships of bush life, and the San people’s remarkable sense of joy and positivity. Footage taken during filming in March 2025 near Tsumkwe also offered the audience an insight into the considerable effort required to create such a documentary.
Following the screening, a lively discussion took place, and the accompanying jewelry stand drew much attention as well. Overall, it was a highly successful event that not only honored the work of the young filmmakers but also provided excellent visibility for our association’s work in Namibia.
We wish Franka Fischer and Henning Kopp every success in completing their studies and look forward to many more exciting films from them in the future.
The film will soon be available on our homepage.
