Infrastructure project completed at Mbunza Living Museum
In the Mbunza Living Museum, another major infrastructure project financed by our association was completed in September 2024.
The Living Culture Foundation Namibia helped setting up a small campsite including a shower and toilet for travelers who visit the Mbunza Living Museum to further support the Living Museum.
Last year, a donation of €3,600 from Ms. Schmidt-Rohr enabled the first part to be completed by installing a solar water pump at the Samsitu campsite, bringing water to the Mbunza Museum through a small pipeline and pumping the water into a tank at the Living Museum. Mbunza infrastructure project (part 1)
Construction of sanitary facilities for the campsite close the Mbunza Living Museum
In mid-August to early September, a local construction company from Rundu built a shower and toilet house in which guests of the Living Museum can obtain refreshment and relief. Meanwhile, the Mbunza have converted part of their area into a campsite, cleaned it and partially planted it with grass.
By setting up the campsite, visitors to the Living Museum have the opportunity to stay overnight directly at the museum and possibly take part in several programs. The campsite can therefore contribute both directly (through campsite fees) and indirectly (through expanded program options) to a higher income for the Mbunza.
The second part of the infrastructure project cost around €4,000, a good price for the construction of functioning sanitary facilities.
Call for donations for the Mafwe campsite
This project will also be continued in the Mafwe Living Museum with the same contractor from Rundu and a sanitary building will also be built here this year. For this project we need another €5000.
