Donations from the Museum Association of Namibia

LCFN and the 5 Living Museums have been members of the MAN – Museums Association of Namibia. In 2014 we were able to place applications for funds to support our LCFN foals and aims. These aplications have been processed and at the end of 2014 we received donations for LCFN, the Living Museum of the Mafwe and the Ju/’Hoansi.

Donations for the Living Museums

Together with both Living Museums LCFN worked out a list of useful items in need and introduced this to MAN. The Mafwe Museum and the Living Museum of the Ju/‘Hoansi received a donation to the value of N$ 20.000 each. The money was then used to purchase the following items:

  • Goat and Oryx skins, which are used to make traditional garment, blankets and to demonstrate traditional tanning methods.
  • Complete Ostrich eggs and ostrich shells for demonstration purposes and for crafting traditional jewellery.
  • Tools for the blacksmiths (hammers, files/rasps, saws, pliers, etc.)
  • Office equipment (table, chairs, files, receipt books, etc.)

Donations for LCFN

LCFN received a donation of 25.000 N$ from the MAN for marketing expenditures. This sum was used to produce a foldable brochure with inlays of the different museums. These will be distributed at different hotels and at car rental companies in Namibia.
